One of the most powerful ways to extend the reach of your product or service is through your users. And it’s tough to overestimate the impact that Mozilla’s community has had on its development, adoption and retention over the past 8 years.
Mozilla’s Director of Contributor Engagement, Mary Colvig, offers up her favorite community recipes (she’s a sucker for home-baked goods) by walking us through examples from both Mozilla and other offerings. She shares how you can develop a strong loyalty with your contributors, users and fans that multiplies and deepens your relationship with them, leading to viable growth and impact.
Assignment
Prioritize your key audience segments. You can draw off the segmentation you’ve done in your strategy and positioning work in previous weeks.
Determine how can you best put these audience segments to work for your company.
List out the key channels you can use to reach these audiences (examples: external forums such as forums or your ones you own, such as your website or social media).
Develop 2-3 simple calls to action (examples: test this version of your app, tweet about an upcoming release, etc.)
Be sure to reward your contributors (examples: develop leaderboards outlining participation metrics, highlight top contributors, etc.)
